Last Meeting for the 2006/2007 team

In Toastmasters Club, the term for the EXCO members of the club will be from July ~ June and since Gurney Toastmasters Club was chartered in January, it was only about 6 months for the 1st EXCO team to serve.

It was on 27th June that our last meeting was held and to celebrate the great teamwork, we had a little pot luck and invited a lot of guests to the last meeting. It was definitely a great gathering and we have a Full-House that night!

(Table Topics session is a session where guests and members will be invited to do a 2-minutes speech, impromptu and un-prepared. This will help to enhance creativity of the speakers and of course, add in additional spice of confidence boost!)

Joint Installation Dinner meeting no.1

Being a part of District 51's Division N and Division S, Gurney Toastmasters Club is in the circle of Division N & S Joint Installation Dinner this coming 28th of July 2007.



Members of Gurney Toastmasters Club were invited to attend the meeting which was held last 15th and were given task in souvenirs and PA system control. Ai Li, Joanne and Sam Koay volunteered to help out in the committee.




The meeting was held at Mizu Spa and the committee members enjoyed the smoothly organized gathering cum meeting on dat day. The meeting then continue with Birthday celebration AG Pala and AG Peng Yew, with non other than a good chocolate mint cake..yumyum..thanks to 'nenek' Joan Ang, the Organizing Chairlady of the Joint Installation Dinner.


By the way, the Joint Installation Dinner will be held on 28th July 2007 in Bayview Georgetown Hotel at 7.00pm sharp. Theme of the dinner will be 'Blue & Silver'. Ticket will be at RM50 per pax. Interested to attend? Just drop me a line here....

Overall, it was a great meeting..what more, with eddy's 'licking adventure', everything was laughter..

JB Convention 2007

The District 51, 14th Convention or better known as JB Convention was held on 27-29th April 2007 in Hyatt Regency Hotel, Johor Bahru.

The event was participated by Toastmaster from all over Malaysia as well as some Toastmaster from all over the world. It was an annual event where there were competition held during the convention. There was International Speech Contest as well as Table Topic Speech Contest.

Besides, delegates even get a chance to meet up with other members of Toastmaster International, exchanging ideas and fellowship to learn more about each club is so educational and exciting!

Programmes throughout the convention includes seminar and talks on how to improve speaking skills as well as building a better speech in public speaking. Generally, it was not about the food of the 5-star rated hotel, neither was it about the nice swimming pool nor the well-equipped gim, it was all about the 'experience' in the convention. Never will it be replaced! Well Done!!

Next year, the convention will be held in Gurney Hotel, Penang.. So, watch out for a more exciting and of course interesting Toastmaster Convention in 2008!

Only 3 of Gurney Toastmaster Club attended the event, but it was definitely a great fun that others missed!! We had great experience there, and here, is our memories~~

A Baby Is Born

Gurney Toastmaster Club is a new baby to Toastmaster International. Born on 1st January 2007, the club is currently up and coming to various type of activities as well as marking our name in the list of Toastmaster Clubs in Penang.


The mission of a Toastmasters club is to provide a mutually supportive and positive learning environment in which every member has the opportunity to develop and practice communication and leadership skills, which in turn foster self-confidence and personal growth.
